  • Improve your study skills while learning effective strategies, such as time management, organization and focus.
  • Personalize your support and work on your specific challenge areas.
  • Build transferable skills by increasing your critical thinking, problem-solving, communication and self-advocacy.
  • Increase long-term success: It's an investment in you.

Who Benefits?

  • Struggling students: those who need help catching up or assistance in understanding difficult subjects can benefit from tutoring.
  • High-achievers: individuals who want to increase their understanding or excel further can benefit from one-on-one guidance.
  • First-year students: those who want help to navigate their transition to college and to build foundational habits will benefit from tutoring.

What Are Office Hours and Why Should I Use Them?

Office hours are scheduled times when professors and teaching assistants (TAs) are available to meet with students outside of class.

There are many times throughout college when you will benefit from meeting with your professor in office hours, for example, when you:

  • Have questions about class content
  • Are confused about practice problems or reading
  • Want to review a paper or exam

Attending office hours can give you valuable time to better understand your class content and your professor's expectations and can have a big impact on your academic success. Office hours can also be an opportunity to get to know your instructor or teaching assistant better, especially in online courses and in larger courses.
